I worked as second assistant director on this horror short which was filmed in LA’s West Adams neighborhood. It was a fun, jam-packed two-day shoot with one day (for me) of prep. The short was well received by indie horror outlets and attracted the attention of Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, landing “The Maiden” director Michael Chaves a directing gig on “The Curse of La Llorona.”
My major responsibilities were:
- Preparing SAG contracts and time cards
- Facilitating communication between location owner and the production staff to ensure that production needs balanced with the property owner’s concerns
- Preparing call sheets and schedules
- Interfacing between departments to keep talent on schedule
- Preparing production reports
- Coordinating craft services and cast and crew parking.
I also drove (and maneuvered through narrow corridors) a rather large SWAT van that belonged to the property owner and unfortunately did not look awesome as a set piece in this film. I moved it a lot.
